Naming Ceremony

May the strength of the wind and the light of the sun, The softness of the rain and the mystery of the moon Reach you and fill you. May beauty delight you and happiness uplift you, May wonder fulfil you and love surround you. May your step be steady and your arm be strong May your heart be peaceful and your word be true. May you seek to learn, may you learn to live, May you live to love, and may you love – always.

The 25th May 2015, We named you.

Actually, we named you way before then, back in January 2014, when we discovered you were “you” our little man. Our soon to be bundle of Joy.

Sebastien George.

We celebrated you. Your name, the way you’ve turned our lives upside-down. We asked very precious friends to stand by you, to guide you, to help you grow. To be your guide parents.

Ourselves, As parents, We made our promises to you, variations of our own wedding vows.

We promise to love you and keep you safe. To teach you the right path and guide you when you falter. To inspire you, cry with you and help you follow your dreams. We promise to be your friend and comfort you when you are sad. We will love you always and forever.

Such a beautiful day, for a beautiful boy.

That was Monday. As I lay here writing this, you are nuzzled against me, contented. Nursing yourself in to Milky Way dreams.

Today, you turned 1! A Bonnie, bouncy little man. It seems like only yesterday that you were pulled from my tummy, a pink, angry, squirming tiny person, with lungs that bruised our ears and made our hearts swell with love.

You spent the first 40 minutes or so snuggled against your daddy. Skin to skin. Flesh to flesh. Calm. Content. Still. This is where you and I both feel safe. A blanket of love inside daddy’s hug.

We spent endless hours watching you, holding you, and shedding tears of joy over you on that precious day. Your birth-day. The emotions are no fewer today than they were then. Today marks 365 days of breastfeeding! An entire year! I am so proud that we have come this far!!
Sebastien George, happy birthday!
We love you xxxx
