Nursery/kids room inspo for when you can’t decorate

Living in military accommodation has its plus points, but also has a few downsides. There’s no rule that says you can’t decorate/paint, however when handing the house back it has to be all magnolia walls and immaculately cleaned (post on how to clean to March out standard will probably happen at some point)

After 4 house moves in 2.5 years, we have shied away from getting the paint out, and instead we add colour with accessories/pictures/curtains and furniture. This means that any house feels like home within a few hours of moving (marching) in.

Now the nursery is pretty much complete, I thought I’d give you all a tour 🙂

For those if you that don’t know us, we have an adopted teen, then two young children, S is 2.5 years and V is 9 months. As soon as we found out we were having a girl my mission started to change the nursery from blue gingham to pink and Grey.

It has been a year in the making, but here it is;

Now the bulk of the furniture such as the toy storage, the bedside table and the drawers are from good old Ikea. As well as the grey velvet curtains. (I may get round to changing the curtain pole, but I doubt it!)

The matching cot/cot bed are both from The Little White Company

The bunting is from @itsthreelittlepigs on EBay

The star decals are from Pretty prints uk (link on photo)
The matching bedding is from @ Fabricco on eBay

The hanging hearts were a gift from Nain and Taid (Nan and grandad for you non Welsh speakers) and are handmade by  Theresa Curran (also available on Twitter)

The stunningly upholstered glider nursing chair is from Tutti Bambini but has been lovingly upholstered by Harriet Guest Upholstery. The leftover fabric has been used as a throw on the toddler chair (which was originally blue gingham)

Night time shot of the room. Not great with energy saving lightbulbs!
Good old Ikea Kallax with drawer and door inserts. I have ordered new handles for it too. Star Decals are from PrettyPrintsUk
Grey and pink personalised bunting from Itsthreelittlepigs
Spare fabric serves as a hasty throw
Nursing chair and beautiful personalised hand painted Winnie the Pooh themed Picture from S’s Guideparents
Drawers stashed in the wardrobes. Hangers are wooden ones from Hangerworld
Crochet hearts from Theresa Curran (click on photo for her FB page)
Stunning glider chair and matching footstool. Please click photo for link

We also have personalised name blocks from Bunting junction on Facebook which we used to for birth announcements.  We will put them up at some point on those clever little Ikea picture ledges!

And here they are all “grown up”

I hope you’ve enjoyed our mini nursery tour! We definitely enjoyed putting it all together.

Have you been inspired by this post? Let me know what you like best about the kids room 🙂 My favourite thing is most certainly the Snuggly Nursing chair.

Update! I’ve changed the handles on the Kallax 🙂 grey and pink stars.
